On Location can index the text in any document that is listed in the OL File Kinds file. Some users have documents that were not included in this list. Although On Location will index the filenames of these documents, it will not include the text in the documents until certain information is added to the OL File Kinds file. By following the instructions below, On Location users can edit the OL File Kinds file to include this information.
1. Close On Location DA.
2. Open your word processor or text editor.
3. From the File option of the menu bar, select Open.
4. Double click to open the System Folder.
5. Double click to open the OL File Kinds file.
In the left hand column, you will see files listed by type and creator. In the right hand column, you will see the filenames.
6. Scroll down to where you see FileMaker II and insert a line.
7. Type in FMPR/FMPR (type/creator) then tab and type an asterisk (*) tab again and type in "FileMaker Pro database" (this is what is displayed in the file list for files of that kind.)
8. Save the file.
9. Create a new index.
If you have any problems, or wish to add other file kinds, consult the technical notes section of the "Read Me File" on the On Location disk, or contact Product Support.
